"Cinque Stelle al Giornalismo" Award, glamour, high society and big names form the world of information
A social and cultural event
Every year, Palace Hotel hosts the "Cinque Stelle al Giornalismo" International Award ceremony, a social and cultural event attended by the big names of the world of information.
The award is supported by the Italian National Order of Journalists and brings prestigious newspaper and television journalists to Milano Marittima.
A jury presided by Ruben Razzante, professor of Information Law at Cattolica University, chooses the journalists that will receive the recognition during the gala dinner, attended by many VIPs, which also features luxury jewellery shows and lots of glamour.
The award
Established in 2006, the “Five Stars for Journalism” Award is an event through which Milano Marittima – and first and foremost the Palace Hotel – aims to enhance its offer by demonstrating a commitment not only to tourism and leisure, but also to the world of communication. The award was created with the clear intention of recognizing those who excel in the field of communication, bearing in mind that Milano Marittima remains one of Italy’s top tourist destinations, known nationally and internationally as a reference point for leisure and tourism.
And since leisure and tourism are also key sectors for the national economy, the Batani Select Hotels group, based on the initiative of Dolp’s Studio – an agency specializing in promotion, public relations, and communication strategies – wished to combine entertainment with a cultural dimension. Thus, the “Five Stars for Journalism” Award was born, as a moment of reflection and evaluation on the multifaceted world of communication.
In 2019, the event was dedicated to the founder of the prestigious hotel group, becoming the Antonio Batani International Journalism Award.
Purpose
Tourism, as confirmed by the figures, remains Italy’s leading industry, generating approximately 12% of the GDP and employing more than 2.4 million people. It is a sector that, despite challenges related to infrastructure, complex regulations, and foreign competition, continues to perform strongly and shows an awareness not only of its own interests but also of being an integral part of a national system facing global challenges.
Hence the decision to establish an award that, beyond the tourism sector, gives due recognition to five professionals (one of whom is of foreign nationality) who, in the demanding field of communication, have committed themselves to showcasing, both in Italy and abroad, the excellence that defines the various sectors of Italy’s economy, culture, and the arts.
Jury
Selecting five names to receive the Award from the broad spectrum of print, television, and radio journalism is no easy task. For this reason, a dedicated jury was established, which, for obvious reasons of expertise, had to be affiliated with the National Order of Journalists. In this regard, the President of the Order, Enzo Iacopino, proposed Professor Ruben Razzante as the ideal candidate to chair the jury, which is composed as follows:
- Ruben Razzante (Chairman) – Professor at the Catholic University of Milan
- Paola Batani (Member) – Batani Select Hotels
- Alberto Sabatini (Member) – Head of Press Office, A.P.T. Emilia Romagna
